Without alteration, quotes have the ability to transform our perspective. If you use the Quote Translator Device (a gizmo I invented for The Muse is IN: An Owner's Manual for Your Creativity,) you can tweak quotes so they become more powerful and applicable to your life.
I will give you some examples and you can play with these in your own journal, but go find your own favorite quotes as well. Dare to embellish the quotes in your visual journal with papers, stamps, paints stickers, or water-soluble crayons. Or not.
The Quote Translator does the following:
1. Makes quotes first person instead of third person.
2. Adds words or sentences to make the quotes more personal to you.
3. Inspires you to talk back to them, comment on them, agree or disagree.
4. Invites you to otherwise let the quote trigger continuation in writing.
Examples:
“There is only one of you in all time, this expression is unique. And if you block it, it will never exist through any other medium and it will be lost.” — Martha Graham
“There is only one of me in all time, my expression is unique. And if I block it, it may be lost. The hell if I’m going to let that happen! ” ~Jill Badonsky as inspired by Martha Graham
