It's the birthday of poet Adrienne Rich, born in Baltimore, Maryland (1929).
She said, "Poetry is the liquid voice that can wear through stone."
Miracle Ice Cream by Adrienne Rich
Miracle's truck comes down the little avenue,
Scott Joplin ragtime strewn behind it like pearls,
and, yes, you can feel happy
with one piece of your heart.
Take what's still given: in a room's rich shadow
a woman's breasts swinging lightly as she bends.
Early now the pearl of dusk dissolves.
Late, you sit weighing the evening news,
fast-food miracles, ghostly revolutions,
the rest of your heart.

Hi Jill,
I was so happy to see Adrienne Rich and one of her poems in The Awe-manace. I love her poetry and used my favorite of her poems "Diving into the Wreck" when I took my oral exam at the University of California, Santa Cruz, in 1993! I still love am in love with that poem and had looked it up again not more than 4 days ago! Oh the synchronicities of Life!
Glad to see you are doing so well and being noticed for your work!
Take care and bountiful beautiful blessings to you and the Muses, oh and Arnold, too! ;o)
